Mastodon does this (but not on posts for some reason???) and its nice. Lets the users have more engagement with announcements, and doesn’t need to federate at all.

ok so mastodon does this in a really really stupid way, being an attribute of the announcement instead of a Like activity
if we were to try to implement that in a way that’s compatible with Mastodon apps, we’d be left with two distinct implementations of custom emoji reacts in Akkoma’s codebase
that’s ugly
