Akkoma stable 2025.03 - artsy dashboardy

i am here to interrupt monster hunting weekend with a release

wooo

this month we have:

Proper, REAL mfm

ACTUAL MFM SUPPORT. Not my hacked-in one! REAL!

Thanks ilja!

Worker observability

hosted at /akkoma/oban, we’ve got the newly open-sourced oban dashboard! see what the heck is going on behind the scenes in your instance! find hidden issues! or just look at the pretty graph

some new frontend options

thanks goes to riedler for these two!

Widened timeline

if you’ve got a REALLY WIDE screen and you want the UI to fill in some space, try out this one:

User Bios are now left-aligned

you can turn this off if you want

A bunch of sec stuff

that i won’t go into

but, all of the thanks i can possibly muster go to oneric as per usual… saviour of akk once again. you really are amazing.

Updating

Is per usual!

See Updating your instance - Akkoma Documentation

we have database migrations this time, make sure you run them!

possible issue: we may have unintentionally dropped support for elixir v1.14.0! if you’re running that, you may need to use ASDF to upgrade to v1.14.1 at the earliest

Installing on Debian Based Distributions - Akkoma Documentation (or similar)

(this was going to happen sooner or later anyhow, 1.14.0 is next on the chopping block for dropped elixir-side support)

[edit: blame debian’s maintainers! 1.14.0 is 3 years old at this point!]

v3.15.1 is out

critical security time

update please :frowning:

Did this release fix the issue that message edits from Mastodon do not propagate?

Edit: My update went fine. Thanks for the release.

that is not a known issue

if you are experiencing an issue, please raise it on akkoma.dev - we won’t know about issues you face that we’re not told about

I have seen it happen with Mastodon and Snac instances. My own edits from Akkoma seem to propagate fine the other direction though.

This was most likely fixed by 8243fc0ef (previously Updates with inlined Mastodon-style like collections failed validation and were rejected), but indeed no one ever filed an issue about the symptoms
